About Us
Hello! Welcome to Terra Minds!
Thank you for dropping by. I am Yokie, Founder of Terra Minds. Ever since I was young, I aspired to be a teacher. As a teacher, I like to create meaningful and relevant lessons so that the learning process is memorable and enjoyable. When my daughter came along, I enjoyed creating a lot of activities for her to explore new experiences or simply have fun making stuff. I realise children are naturally curious and they are like sponges, absorbing new knowledge or experiences readily and always asking questions about what, why or how things work. This was how I got the idea for starting Terra Minds in 2013. I wanted to provide a learning space for children to explore and learn about their natural environment in a fun and hands-on way such as doing experiments and going on field trips. Through these activities, the children will be more aware and grow to appreciate their environment. Since then, we have and are still embarking on many journeys with the children.
Our Passion
Terra Minds prides itself as a pioneer in providing quality and enriching Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math (STEAM) enrichment programmes to young children aged 3 to 12. Children like to explore and draw conclusions from their experiences. To provide guidance and structure to turn their natural curiosity into something more scientific, my team curated learning experiences that helped them understand the complex workings of the real world through simplified experiments and crafts. By using scientific instruments, models, apparatus, kits, specimens and even crafts, children will see science concepts come alive!
Forging Close Partnerships
We work closely with parents and our partners to ignite and nurture the children's interest in science, coding and most importantly, to be excited about learning. They are very pleased with how their children are learning and want us to extend their learning into new areas like coding. We continue to create new programmes like Junior Robotics where children can learn sequential thinking and real-life applications using robots. Children enjoy the thrill of making robots come alive to accomplish tasks that are equivalent to the jobs and tasks that robots are doing in many industries. ArtScience programmes appeal to children who love art and craft and at the same time, they continue to dwell on many nature science topics. We are thrilled to be able to showcase our innovative lessons during various community events and share our passion with guests and participants. In 2020, we were honoured to be part of SINDA Digital Literacy Day and President Mdm Halimah tried playing with robot Dash.
Our Beliefs
We strongly believe in the importance of holistic development where we can nurture both the minds and hearts of the children. This belief is encapsulated in the Terra Minds logo which contains a tree representing the environment and an elephant representing wisdom and empathy. Elephants are some of the most intelligent, social, and empathic animals around. Ignite the Spark for Learning is our mission. Lesson development and research will keep us busy and committed to bringing more fun and hands-on learning to even more children. Check out our online shop and find something for your child to enjoy, be it a science kit or a lesson. Just drop us an email if you are looking for a customised programme for your school or organisation. We will do our best! Thank you once more for stopping by.
